SEBI has revised the rules for using stock market price data for educational purposes. Earlier, there was confusion because one rule allowed educational institutions to use market price data that was just one day old, while another required the data to be at least three months old. After receiving feedback from stakeholders, SEBI has now introduced a balanced approach: market price data used for education, training, and investor awareness can only be shared or used after a 30-day delay. This means educators, trainers, and content creators cannot use very recent market prices to provide indirect stock tips or recommendations. The new provisions will come into effect from 1 July 2026.
